Come support ASU Comedy starting the week of Feb. 23rd! Barren Mind & Farce Side will be running their annual auctions in place of their regularly scheduled shows on the 26th + 27th. How does it work? Essentially, you pay us to embarrass ourselves on stage. Did you ever have that friend willing to do anything to make a few bucks? That's us. It's that simple. Bring your wallet and a friend. All the money goes towards ASU Comedy and allows us to exist, so please come out and show your support! There's few other places you can go on campus to pay someone $20 to piss their pants.

Auditions for ASU Comedy are this week on Feb. 3rd + 4th! The time and location have also been changed: 4pm - 8 pm both days inside the Physical Science Center PSF 166 (F Wing). Again, the locations and times have changed, so please keep this in mind!

Oh, and new BMi starts this Thursday + Farce Side starts this Friday!

Farce Side will be putting up their best sketches from the Fall 2008 semester, but we need your help determining what they were by voting. In the message board above you'll see a designated thread to post your votes. Please take the time to post your favorite ten! Don't forget to turn out for the final show of the semester going down on our regular MU Stage, starting at 7:00 pm!

We had a huge turnout for auditions and would like to thank everyone once again for turning out! The cast list has been posted for both Barren Mind and Farce Side in the Cast section of the website. If you didn't make it this time, please realize we had very limited spaces to fill with about fifty plus of you to audition -- it was by no means an easy decision! If you are interested in ASU Comedy, stay involved! We'd love for you to attend Farce Side Writing meetings or show up for our shows every week. To reiterate one more time, most people don't get on cast their first time trying out. You'll have another opportunity to be a part of the team in the spring semester when we run auditions again. More news will be posted regarding Farce Side writing meetings when the information becomes available.

Farce Side cast will be meeting this Sunday from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm by the union stage (the same place auditions were held). Please attend if you're new so we can explain how our format works! Barren Mind has their regular scheduled Sunday rehearsal this Sunday from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, so please attend if you made this cast! Thank you again, and we look forward to an awesome semester.

Auditions have been officially scheduled for the upcoming semester! During the second week of classes on Thursday Sep. 4th, both Barren Mind Improv and Farce Side Sketch Comedy will be hosting auditions on the Memorial Union stage. Here is the info you'll need to know:

WHERE: MU Stage (the space located beneath Taco Bell on the ground floor)
WHEN: Thursday September 4th, 2008 from 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm (possibly later)

If you are unable to make this date, we're currently in the process of reserving a possible Wednesday September 3rd location for auditions! Ideally, we'd like to give an opportunity to audition if you can't make the Thursday date, but with the MU construction it may not be possible. If such a reservation is made, we'll post the info immediately on the site.

Additionally, Barren Mind/Farce Side will be attending the Freshman Passport on Saturday August 23rd from 6 pm - 9 pm. We will have a booth in the MU promoting auditions, so look for us for more information on ASU Comedy! Also, we will be performing that night from 6:30 pm - 7:10 pm on the MU Stage, so come check us out.


*A few extra details if you're thinking about auditioning:

- If it is your first time auditioning for ASU Comedy, you are only eligible to be cast on either Barren Mind/Farce Side.
- Barren Mind/Farce Side are fairly demanding clubs. Barren Mind has regular rehearsals on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday and performs weekly on Thursdays. Farce Side has writing meetings every Monday and Wednesday, a four hour rehearsal on Thursday, and performs weekly on Fridays. In other words, please keep your schedule flexible to accommodate these times.
- Barren Mind/Farce Side are heavy abusers of freedom of speech. We're allowed to perform and say just about whatever we want, within reason. If you are someone who is easily offended, you may want to reconsider auditioning or, you know, getting a sense of humor.

We'd like to thank you all for coming out and auditioning for ASU comedy. Unfortunately, we only have so many spaces to fill every semester. We encourage you to audition for ASU comedy in the future if you didn't make the cast this semester. If you would like to stay involved with comedy the best way to do it is attend our shows. Shows are happening every week starting this Thursday, January 24th @ 12:15 pm-1:30 pm with Barren Mind Improv, then Farce Side Comedy Hour takes the stage Friday, January 25th @ 12:40 pm-1:30 pm. Congratulations to all new members and we look forward to another great semester with you all (* = Understudy).
